Bryn Terfel 460
WELSH baritone Bryn Terfel is among a host of high-profile performers announced as part of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s new season.
Its undertaking of Austrian composer Gustav Mahler’s complete orchestral works will also be a highlight of the programme, which begins on September 10.
RLPO conductor Vasily Petrenko will lead 22 concerts, as well as taking the orchestra on tour to Switzerland in March.
Andrew Cornall, RLPO executive director, said: “Vasily is continuing some themes set up in this year, including Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, in the fundamental part of the season, but there is so much else going on, too, with visiting performers and world premieres.

“I wanted to create a very diverse concert schedule for the people of Liverpool.”
Visiting instrumentalists will include pianists Kathryn Stott, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Simon Trpceski and Joanna McGregor, as well as countertenor Andreas Scholl.
The season will also feature world premieres by Liverpool’s Emily Howard and Polish-Jewish composer Mieczyslaw Weinberg, whose Requiem has been largely forgotten.
