A 21-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of armed robbery, possession of a firearm and dangerous driving.
Officers were called to Compton Road at 12.20am yesterday, after reports a man had threatened a driver with a handgun and stolen his Volkswagen Jetta car.
Just before 5am, the car was seen by police in the Walton area and refused to stop for police officers. The police helicopter was called and watched the car, which crashed into a lamp-post on Skipton Road, Anfield.
The 21-year-old man, of no fixed address, was seen running from the car and was arrested nearby.
He remains in custody and is being questioned.
