JUSTICE Secretary Jack Straw has been ordered to reveal the shortlist that will determine whether a giant £400m “Titan” prison is built on the edge of Merseyside.
The Information Commissioner has ruled that the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) must lift the cloak of secrecy surrounding the possible sites for the supersize jail – to hold around 2,500 inmates.
The Daily Post revealed last year that talks were under way to build a Titan on the £1bn Omega business park development at Warrington, close to Junction 8 of the M62 motorway.
The shortlist would reveal whether other viable options were being explored, given that the MoJ has stated that one of the three Titans will be somewhere in the North West.
