SIR Paul McCartney joined hundreds of fans and friends to see a posthumous star awarded to Beatle George Harrison on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last night.
The late guitarist, who grew up in Wavertree and Speke before joining the Fab Four, had his star unveiled in front of the iconic Capitol Records building.
Dressed in an open-neck shirt, blue suit and black sports shoes, Sir Paul thanked hundreds of raucous fans for showing up.
Harrison’s widow, Olivia, and son, Dhani, were also present along with Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne, former members of the singer songwriter’s other band, the Travelling Wilburys.
Oscar winner Tom Hanks joined Leron Gubler, president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, as the star was officially revealed.
Harrison is the second Beatle to be honoured individually on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In 1988, Lennon received a star on Vine Street.
Sir Paul has been approved for a star, but no date has been fixed yet for a ceremony.
There are no current plans to recognise Ringo Starr in a similar fashion, according to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
