TRIBUTES were last night paid to a Liverpool-born teenager who was killed in a car crash.
Daniel Lang, 14, died when the car he was travelling in collided with a tractor on the A38 at Ashburton, in Devon, on Easter Monday.
Melissa Barnham, 24, and a friend of Daniel’s sister, was also killed.
Daniel’s brother Michael Lang, 17, sister Joanne Taylor, 26, and Joanne’s father, Gordon Taylor, 45, who lives in Liverpool, were injured and taken to Derriford Hospital.
Last night, Daniel’s mother and grandmother described him as a lovely boy with an infectious laugh.
Carol Lang said her son, Daniel, was born in Liverpool and the family moved to Plymouth nine years ago.
Speaking from her Devon home, the 48-year- old said: "Daniel was outgoing, full of life and full of fun. We’ll miss him, I just can’t put it into words. I can’t believe it – I keep thinking he’s going to come back."
Just before he died, Daniel, an avid Liverpool and Plymouth Argyle fan, had spent a week’s holiday with his grandparents, Dan and Sally Williams, who live in St Helens.
They had travelled down to Plymouth on Good Friday and last night Mrs Williams described her grandson as a "lovely boy".
The 71-year-old said: "Daniel had lots of friends and he had this mischievous side. He had a lovely smile and an infectious giggle. I can’t believe he won’t be able to stay with me again. We keep thinking it’s a nightmarewe won’t wake up from."
Gordon Taylor was last night described as in a serious but stable condition in hospital. The 17-year-old tractor driver, from the Newton Abbot area, was uninjured.
