Pilot wrote off helicopter in emergency landing at Liverpool John Lennon Airport

FOUR people escaped with their lives after a helicopter pilot lost control of the aircraft at Liverpool John Lennon airport.

A report by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch into the accident, which happened on November 22, said the private aircraft was written off after the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing.

The Robinson R44 Raven II helicopter – containing the pilot and three passengers – was on a local flight from the airport when the accident happened.

The helicopter rolled over after the pilot’s emergency landing, and was seriously damaged in the process.

Miraculously, the pilot and one passenger only received minor injuries, while the others were unhurt.

The report states that the helicopter began to rotate quickly on take-off and then lifted very rapidly.
