A MERSEYSIDE man is cycling more than 1,000 miles from Lands End to John O’Groats in recognition of the care his mum received at a Merseyside hospice.
Liverpool Century Cycling Club member Shane Seiga, 44, from Huyton, has set himself a sponsorship target of £3,500 for the ride in June, which will raise funds for the Marie Curie Hospice, in Woolton.
He said: “I am cycling solo, and will cover the whole 1,000 miles in seven days.
“It is a big challenge but not as big as the challenges the staff, patients, and families at Marie Curie face each day.
“When my mum was at the Marie Curie, I witnessed unbelievable care and feel duty bound to do something to support the hospice and the services they offer.”
Fundraiser Antony Jones said: “We have people cycling both the length and breadth of Britain this summer in aid of our hospice.
“Shane’s mammoth cycle will certainly be a challenge, and we wish him luck with it.”
The charity is also organising the Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge from July 10 to July 12, running from Cumbria to Yorkshire.
