A SCOUT troop were hailed as heroes yesterday after helping to save two teenage girls who had collapsed on Snowdon.
Assistant Scout leaders Adrian Miles and Scott Whittaker put their training into action when they found the girls with hypothermia.
The 1st Midsomer Norton Scouts, from Somerset, were on their way down from the 3,500ft summit during their annual Easter expedition when they saw the stricken pair.
Mr Miles, 23, and Mr Whittaker, 26, came across a group of walkers, believed to be Duke of Edinburgh award trainees from Buckinghamshire, with two members unconscious.
Mr Miles played down their part in the rescue, saying it was “just what anyone else would do” but the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team praised their actions. The two men calmly put up emergency shelters and administered first aid.
They tended to them for an hour an a half while waiting for the mountain rescue team to arrive.
Due to adverse weather, a rescue helicopter was unable to land and the leaders helped rescuers to stretcher one of the casualties off the mountain.
