TWO men have made their first appearance at Liverpool Crown Court accused of a woman’s murder.
Pauline Beattie, 54, was found strangled at her terrace home in Chapel Road, Anfield, on June 6 last year.
Stephen Wales, 44, of Phoenix Brow, St Helens, and Michael McKevitt, 36, of Bright Street, Everton, who are charged with murder and conspiracy to burgle, appeared in court via videolink from HMP Walton yesterday.
They spoke only to confirm their names, but did not enter any pleas.
Judge John Roberts fixed a plea and case management hearing for June 24. A trial date was set for October 26 with a two-week estimate.
He remanded both men in custody.
