EVERTON fans on their way to Wembley are being warned it is illegal to drink alcohol on board coaches travelling to the game.
Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United could attract up to 31,000 Everton fans – 10 times the normal ticket allocation for away games.
Merseyside Police expect up to 200 coaches to leave the area for Wembley, and are reminding fans it is a criminal offence to drink on board coaches or minibuses heading to the game.
The Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol) Act 1985 bans carrying alcohol on board any coach which is being used to take people to a designated sporting event.
Police said they wanted to ensure fans and coach operators had a memorable trip to the capital for footballing reasons and not because they had fallen foul of the law.
