THIS week, photographers uploaded a lot more than their pictures to the Daily Post Flickr pages.
Just as many people in Liverpool used last week to cast fresh light on the disaster at Hillsborough 20 years ago, Flickr regulars put their talents to poignant use providing new insight into the ongoing fight for justice and its emotional toll.
Pete Carr’s portrait of two men supporting each other is harrowing.
Beneath the picture online he wrote: “Twenty years ago, families in Liverpool were devastated by the tragic loss of life at Hillsborough.
“This was taken at Anfield during the service for the 96.”
The image brought about a cascade of comments and messages of support from fellow fans, friends and Liverpool people.
Lee Carus’s simple portrait elicited even more reaction.
He said: “I put this image up of my bobbly old scarf and latest shirt because I wanted to share this day with all my contacts, but especially the ones overseas who may never had heard of what happened on that dark day 20 years ago.
“I won’t go into it all again, but, since becoming a father, Hillsborough has new meaning for me.”
He then listed each of the 96 who lost their lives.
Fellow photographers posted a series of heartfelt messages, ranging from a simple “RIP” to raw memories of the day itself.
Brian Roberts’s picture shows a new generation of youngsters getting to grips with the tragedy.
