BRITAIN’S representative at a United Nations anti-racism conference yesterday walked out after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad used his speech to launch an outspoken attack on Israel.
Downing Street said Gordon Brown “unreservedly condemned” the Iranian President’s comments and backed the walk-out by Britain’s ambassador to the UN in Geneva, Peter Gooderham.
In a rambling speech, Mr Ahmadinejad accused Israel of “cruel and repressive racism” against Palestinians.
Dozens of European diplomats walked out of the hall after he said the Israeli state was created by “military aggressions to make an entire nation homeless under the pretext of Jewish suffering” from the World War II.
The week-long forum is already being boycotted by the US.
