MOTORISTS are being told to remove valuables from cars to avoid becoming smash and grab victims.
Merseyside Police issued the warning after a spike in the number of thefts from cars where items have been left on display.
Thieves will smash their way into cars to get their hands on what is inside.
Police say drivers should remove SatNav devices – including their cradles – as well as mobile phones, laptops, coats and CDs otherwise they could be targeted. They should also park in well-lit areas that are not hidden from public view.
Motorists are being invited to take valuables to a police event where they can be marked by police with a UV pen. They should be taken to Iceland in Marion Square, Netherton, between 11am and 3pm tomorrow.
