Birkenhead’s Eswa social club faces licence recall after noise complaints

A FIGHT involving 30 youths could today see a social club lose its licence after an application by Merseyside Police.

The management team of Birkenhead’s ESWA club, on Park Road South, will appear before Wirral licensing bosses today at 10am.

Officers say it is in breach of its licensing certificate due to excessive late noise when drinkers leave.

The management had previously undertaken never to hold an 18th birthday party, but a mass brawl in February was revealed to have stemmed from a party for a 16-year-old.

Chairman of the club Bob Nunn said: “I think a lot of this is exaggerated, this has been just one incident of serious trouble in three years.

“There is a lot of drinking that goes on in the park and that is what has caused the trouble.

“We’ve consulted a solicitor and we will be happy to go through everything with the committee.”
