Liverpool councillor behind Liberal Democrat blog slur quits executive board

THE councillor who posted comments that “All Lib-Dems are b-----ds” on her blog has resigned from the council’s standards committee.

Labour‘s Louise Baldock has also resigned from the shadow executive board for the comments she made, which were subject to an investigation by the Standards Board for England.

It decided she had not breached the Members Code of Conduct and was not acting in her official capacity when she made the post, but the Daily Post understands it has been through “mutual consent” that Cllr Baldock had withdrawn from the positions.

In a statement published on her blog, Cllr Baldock said she did not want to damage the good work the council had achieved in promoting ethical standards.

She added: “It is a bitter irony therefore that the negative comments I made two years ago about all Liberal Democrats and all Liberals have now come back to haunt me. The comments were made in 2007. Cllr Baldock also wrote that Liberal Democrats and Liberals – whose leader, Cllr Steve Radford, made the complaint – were “deceitful, conniving and opportunistic”.
