Daily Post Flickr user casts fish eye view of city landmarks

ONE of the most difficult tasks a photographer faces is to find a new way of presenting familiar sights.

Liverpool Daily Post’s online photosharing site contains close to 15,000 images, posted by 500 snappers.

Each of the major city landmarks has been photographed from almost every conceivable angle.

But Flickr regular Charlie Charlton’s fish-eye lens series has the power to startle.

He said: “I took this series on Saturday.

"I didn’t go out to take fish-eye pictures but when I walked past One Park West I saw this shot of the building stretching away to infinity and had to take it.”

The shot is taken in HDR, which combines three shots taken in quick succession into one final photograph.

Mr Charlton said: “I was really pleased with the result.

"The picture ended up with ghostly images of cars passing by as a result of the different shots.

“Fish-eye lenses give you a vision beyond human perspective. I love using them.”
