Elephants hit election

RAMPAGING elephants in the Indian state of Jharkhand are disrupting the country’s Parliamentary elections.

Herds often break out of heavily forested areas in the state and destroy crops and villages. Local resident Alpana Sinha said many voters were too afraid to go to the polling booths because of elephants.
