THE daughter of a man who has lived in the same house for almost 100 years has said he hopes he will never have to move.
Alfonso De Marco, 107, moved into the three-storey terraced house in Seaside, Eastbourne, East Sussex, in 1911 as a boy of nine after moving from his native Italy.
His daughter, Anita Dipilla, 62, said she believes the home has been in the family for even longer – since around 1895 – as her grandfather, Guiseppe, had lived in it since then.
Mrs Dipilla said that Mr De Marco came to the UK in 1911 to join his father after his mother died in Italy.
As he grew up he began to work for his father’s business, an ice cream parlour on the ground floor of the property, which he eventually took over.
