FORMER deputy Prime Minister John Prescott has dedicated the start of Euro election campaigning to trade unionist Jack Jones, who died last week.
In an exclusive video blog for the Daily Post’s political blog, Dale Street Blues, Mr Prescott pays tribute to Jones, who died, aged 96.
Mr Prescott and comedian Eddie Izzard will be in Liverpool with environment minister Ed Miliband on Friday for a question time event at Liverpool University.
The Hull MP will be touring 12 towns and cities during the May Bank Holiday weekend aboard the Prescott Express.
He will be talking about his Go Fourth campaign for a historic Labour fourth term and the European elections.
In his guest blog, Mr Prescott says: “I will be there [Liverpool] on May Day. And a very famous Liverpudlian Jack Jones will be buried on May Day and I think of him for all the things he did in the Labour movement, and it’s a day I’d like to dedicate to him.”
