THE PR campaign for Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards.
The campaign, which resulted in the city attracting more than £200m in global media coverage in '08, has been recognised in both the SABRE and CIPR Excellence Awards.
Liverpool '08 has been shortlisted in the Consumer Services, Entertainment, Culture and Sport category for the SABREs.
The winners of Europe's biggest PR awards will be announced at a gala dinner on Thursday, May 21, in Stockholm City Hall.
And, on Tuesday, July 7, the city will discover its fate at the Excellence Awards Dinner, at The Honourable Artillery Company Gardens, in London, in which it has been nominated in the consumer relations category.
The council says its PR campaign resulted in 12,000-plus items in UK press, 880 articles in national print media, 20-plus hours of prime-time TV, and 95% of coverage was positive or neutral.
