Ex-Wigan and Great Britain rugby star David Myers had heart attack before death crash

A FORMER Wigan and Great Britain rugby league player suffered a heart attack and crashed on a busy motorway causing tailbacks that led to another smash in which a family of six died.

An inquest heard David Myers, 37, from Warrington, had traces of amphetamine and anabolic steroids in his blood which may have contributed to his collapse.

Mr Myers, was working as a van driver and a nightclub doorman since retiring.

His partner Sarah Southern said he was a keep fit fanatic who was working long hours.

She said she was not aware of him using amphetamines but he may have taken things to keep him awake. She said, the night before he died, Mr Myers complained of tiredness and chest pains.
