New Wirral Mayor takes over chains of office
THE 36th Mayor of Wirral was officially welcomed into office at a special “Mayor Making” ceremony at Wallasey Town Hall last night.
Outgoing Mayor Cllr Adrian Jones handed over the Chains of Office to the new Mayor, Cllr Andrew Chapman Hodson.
Cllr Hodson has represented the Heswall ward since entering politics in 1994.
During that time, he has served as spokesperson on Leisure Services, Property Services, Street Scene and Chairman of the Licensing Committee.
He is also Managing Director of a Birkenhead-based facility management company, which employs 420 people across the North West.
Married to Kathy, the new Mayoress, he has two sons Leon and Andrew, a daughter Sophie and one grandchild, Ellie.
The new Mayor said: “It is a great honour to represent the people of Wirral and I’m really looking forward to meeting many of the people and organisations that make it such a special place during my year in office.”
