Rainbow flag to fly over Liverpool Town Hall to mark International Day Against Homophobia

Mrs Causer said: “The Mayor has been a great support since Michael died. He organised a football match and the book of condolence.

“We are looking forward to meeting him again on Sunday.

“It will be emotional to finally receive the book.

“We will put it with the one we were given by the people from Knowsley. Michael and I are currently having a break. We haven't been away since our son died, so are having a break before the next stage in our fight to get justice for Michael.

“We are waiting to hear from the CPS about what is going to happen next.

“But we plan to fight all the way.

“We have been really touched by the support that we have received.”

Sunday’s event begins at 2pm.

Michael’s family have decided to hold a memorial evening for his friends and family to swap their memories.

The have hired a room at the Police Club, in Fairfield, for the evening, with two bands hired to play.
