Homemade bomb forces family of four to flee house in Huyton

A TERRIFIED family have spoken of how they fled their house after a homemade bomb blew their front door off its hinges.

Mother-of-two Pauline Holmes escaped clutching her two young children as flames tore through the hallway on Monday night.

Neighbours told how green sparks were seen shooting out of the semi-detached house in Barford Road, Huyton, after the explosion at 11.45pm.

Mrs Holmes’s cousin, Stephen Robertson, 24, saw a jeep racing away from the scene.

He said: “When I heard the bang, I sprinted across the road but could not get near the front door.

“The kids came out the back and I carried them across to my house.

“They are terrified. Pauline is still in shock and crying her eyes out.”
