MICHAEL JARVIS thinks Pressing is in the right shape to run a big race in Saturday’s Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.
The six-year-old will make his seasonal reappearance in Group One mile contest.
Pressing has won eight times, but has yet to triumph in Britain having landed his biggest successes abroad.
It will the horse’s first start since disappointing in the Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin in December. But Jarvis is hopeful his charge – who is a 12-1 chance with BlueSquare, Victor Chandler and Boylesports for the Lockinge – will run well.
Jarvis said: “We never start that early with him but he seems in good order.
“Obviously it is a high-class race but we’re looking forward to seeing him run and while he will probably be a bit better for it, he’s done enough work to run respectably.
“I think he’s pretty adaptable regarding trip as he has won good class races over a mile and a mile and a quarter. A lot depends on how the race is run really.”
