A RAINBOW flag will fly above Liverpool town hall for the first time on Sunday to mark International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO).
Visitors will sign a book of condolence for gay Huyton teenager Michael Causer, who was murdered last year.
They will also be asked to take part in a short survey about where and when the city’s first-ever Gay Pride festival should take place, and what would they would like to see at the event.
Lord Mayor Steve Rotheram said: “Sunday’s event will be a great opportunity for people to not only enjoy themselves, but to also get involved with shaping a future Pride.
“Homophobia is unacceptable. We want to do everything we can to promote diversity in this great city.”
The event begins at 2pm and will be attended by Michael’s parents.
IDAHO marks the anniversary of when the World Health Organisation stopped classifying homosexuality as a mental illness.
