WITNESSES are being sought following a robbery in Birkenhead on Friday.
A 59-year-old man was walking along Ashville Road, near Birkenhead Park, at 10.35pm when, at the junction with Park Drive, he was pushed to the ground and hit several times on the head with what was described as a wooden club or stick.
The offender then stole the man's wallet and ran off in the direction of Park Road North.
He is described as white, aged between 20 and 30, around 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build and wearing dark clothing.
The victim, who is from the Prenton area, suffered several cuts to his head which required stiches.
