A MOTHER-OF-TWO allegedly killed by her jealous partner told how he had “battered her” hours before her death.
Claire Hanley, 31, spoke to her mother on the phone on the night of her death, describing how she had argued with partner Brian Davies and he had attacked her.
She was found dead from massive bleeding to the brain less than 10 hours later.
Davies, of Fincham Road, Huyton, denies murder and manslaughter on November 4 last year.
The 49-year-old accepts striking Miss Hanley, who had a son and daughter, aged 13 and eight, but insists he only slapped her in self-defence during a blazing row.
But yesterday Miss Hanley’s mother Kathleen wiped away tears as she told Liverpool Crown Court of her last conversation with her daughter, who had been on a night out with Davies.
