Robbers threaten workers at Kirkby’s Sacred Heart social club with gun during late night raid
WORKERS in a Merseyside church social club were taken hostage by armed robbers.
Up to four men are thought to have burst into The Sacred Heart social club, on Briery Hey Avenue, Kirkby, as it closed up at around 2.30am on Sunday.
They threatened the four members of staff who were clearing up and shoved a shotgun into the back of one.
The crooks demanded the safe be opened and that the staff empty their pockets.
They grabbed thousands of pounds in cash from the safe and took two mobile phones.
None of the workers were physically injured, but they have all been given time off work to recover from the shock.
The offenders were wearing dark clothing, balaclavas and had local accents. It is believed that two of the offenders were referred to as “Dean” and “John” during the heist.
