Dr Who star David Tennant in US TV role

DR WHO star David Tennant has landed a prestigious hosting role on American TV.

Tennant will make his debut on the long-running TV anthology, Masterpiece Contemporary, this autumn, its producing station, WGBH, announced yesterday.

The 38-year-old Scottish actor follows past Masterpiece hosts such as Alan Cumming and Laura Linney.

Masterpiece Contemporary returns on the Public Broadcasting Service in October with Endgame, a drama about the final days of apartheid in South Africa starring William Hurt and Jonny Lee Miller. It premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
