Chants for justice for 96 at Hillsborough Memorial Match - Liverpool FC Legends v All Stars

THE people of Merseyside turned out in their thousands last night to call for justice for the Hillsborough 96.

More than 20,000 fans chanted ‘Justice for the 96’ as Liverpool Legends took on a team of celebrities in a memorial match.

Trevor Hicks, who lost two daughters in the tragedy was among the Hillsborough families who accompanied the players onto the pitch.

Waving Hillsborough banners, the Kop chanted ‘Kenny Dalglish’ and rose to their feet to remember the 96 as Kenny scored a goal in the 87th minute.

There were cheerss for ex-Liverpool legends Alan Hansen and Ian Rush, while Alan Stubbs and Teddy Sheringham were jokingly booed.

Speaking after the game which ended 3-1 to the Legends,Kenny said: “It’s great to see all the support and the real respect for the memorial service.

“I hope we can get justice for the 96, which would go down really well with everyone.”
