I’M A Celebrity star David Gest will host a charity event in aid of Liverpool Unites and the Variety Club North West.

The Hollywood producer has organised the Let’s Hear It For The Kids ball, which will take place at the Adelphi Hotel on Friday, June 5.

Gest said: “I sold out two concerts at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in January so I felt it was time to give something back to Liverpool, and what better way than by helping the children, as they are our future.”

The TV star donated £100,000 to the Rhys Jones Memorial Fund, which he won on the Sky One quiz show Celebrity Are You Smarter Than a Ten Year Old? last year.

He said: “I was very moved by such an unfortunate tragedy.

“Liverpool Unites helps this wonderful cause and underprivileged children throughout Merseyside.

“The Variety Club North West also helps disadvantaged children.

“I felt, with so many close friends in Liverpool, that I could help raise a lot of money for children and make the Let's Hear It For The Kids ball an annual event.”

There are only 150 tickets for the Ball available to the public.
