Murdered Huyton teenager Anthony Walker’s mother earns community award

THE mother of murdered teenager Anthony Walker has been honoured for her work in inspiring families across the North West.

Gee Walker collected the award in recognition of her work as figurehead of the Anthony Walker Found-ation, the charity founded in her son’s memory.

She was given the Community Award as part of the Inspiring Women event in Manchester on Friday.

The ceremony at the city’s Midland Hotel was attended by leading women in business and public sector organisations, social entrepreneurship and community work.

Mrs Walker said: “My wonderful son was an inspiration to everybody around him.

“That is why I believe in forgiveness. It the best and only way I can think of to honour his memory.”

A-level student Anthony was 18 when he was killed in a racist attack in Huyton in July 2005.
