Support for parents of murdered Huyton teen Michael Causer on anti-homophobia day

THE parents of murdered gay teenager Michael Causer were handed a book of condolence for their son yesterday by the Lord Mayor of Liverpol.

Marie and Michael Causer Snr were handed the book by Cllr Steve Rotheram as one of his last official acts on International Day Against Homophobia. Mrs Causer said: “The Lord Mayor has been a great support since Michael died.

“We have been really touched by all the support received.”

Liverpool Town Hall opened its doors yesterday to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community to discuss ways to stamp out homophobia.

The IDAHO symbolic rainbow flag flew over the building and at police stations across Merseyside.

Meanwhile, staff at the Terrence Higgins Trust, in Birkenhead, were yesterday given Parliamentary support in raising awareness of homophobia.

Wallasey MP Angela Eagle, who is openly gay, and Birkenhead MP Frank Field talked about what the community can do to make Wirral a safer and supportive environment.
