Madeleine McCann’s parents meet families of other missing children

Mrs McCann made a heartfelt plea for the public to continue thinking about missing children even after high-profile cases slip out of the headlines.

She said: “It’s devastating that it has to be when a child goes that the interest comes back – what can be more important than children?

“Let’s try to work together globally to improve the situation.”

The event on London’s South Bank heard from experts who spoke of moves to improve information sharing about missing children across UK police force and international borders.

Mr McCann added: “We are looking at how we can stop other families getting into the position we are in.”
