St Helens and Knowsley hospital trust records revamp cash-saver

A MERSEYSIDE hospital trust could save £3.2m in five years because of a new patient record system.

St Helens and Knowsley hospitals are transferring their paper records into electrical form, to ease access between NHS bodies.

Staff will have secure online access to the records, meaning out-patient records will be available instantly.

Neil Darvill, Director of Informatics at the Trust, said the system will make a huge difference to patients, because it removes the logistical problems involved in moving health records.

He added: “We are committed to improving patient care and the patient experience.”
