Liverpool’s Rocket blackspot claims another life

Police reopened the road at about 9.30pm and are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Punters at nearby Turnpike Tavern heard the accident as they enjoyed the afternoon sun in the pub’s car park. Several spoke of the junction being a notorious blackspot for bumps, but were shocked at the seriousness of the accident.

The Rocket Interchange, which comes just before the Queen’s Drive flyover, was the scene of the fatal crash in 2006 involving truck driver Colin Wrighton, 54, whose sleep apnoea was found to have resulted in the death of Nissan Micra driver, Toby Tweddell, 25, who died from multiple injuries.
