Revealing his love for the water, David, who, with his sister, is currently ranked UK Number One in his class, added: “I have been sailing pretty much ever since I was born.
“I just enjoy the competition and racing against people from all over the world.
“At the weekend it was windy out there, and others capsized, but these are my favourite conditions.
“I suppose to do well you need a good mental attitude, good fitness and concentration.
“The skills I borrow from teaching include patience, and sailing can be theoretical and mathematical on occasions.”
