MEMBERS of the public are set to get their say on plans for a new £370m Alder Hey hospital from Monday.
Proposals for an eight-week consultation will be considered at a council health board meeting today, and, if passed, the process will begin to hear local view points.
It will focus on whether a new- build hospital in Springfield Park or a redevelopment of the existing Alder Hey site will be the best option.
The new-build would include landscaped gardens, a multi-storey car park and a helicopter landing pad.
Alder Hey’s Chief Executive, Louise Shepherd, said: “Alder Hey’s Children’s Health Park is a really positive story for Merseyside and the Northwest – it is a major infrastructure project and an iconic gateway for children’s health in Merseyside.
“We hope that the committee will approve the consultation and that we will be able to widely share our exciting plans with our patients, parents, carers and all those who are involved.”
Planning permission has already been granted and a “land swap” agreement between the hospital and park site approved, despite objections about car parking concerns from local businesses.
Initially, the hospital’s proposal was held up because it wanted to use the entire Springfield Park site, generating opposition from some residents.
