A GOVERNMENT minister last night said British forces could leave Iraq with their “heads held high” as some of the final frontline troops returned to the UK.
Quentin Davies, Minister for Defence, Equipment and Support, welcomed back personnel from 15 Squadron Royal Airforce Regiment to an RAF base in Suffolk.
Around 40 members of the squadron landed on British soil to be reunited with their families.
Mr Davies said: “It has been a difficult operation, but one which has been successfully concluded.”
