Police arrest 39-year-old man in international murder hunt

POLICE in Cheshire have arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with an international murder hunt.

Tycoon Ian Griffin is wanted by police over the death of his millionairess girlfriend Kinga Legg at a top Paris hotel on Tuesday.

Police said the man was arrested at 3.30pm in woodland near Chelford, in Macclesfield, yesterday.

A spokeswoman said: “At this stage it would appear that the man has been living rough in a tent.”

She added that police were liaising with the French authorities.

Police were last night unable to confirm the identity of the arrested man.

The murder hunt was launched after maids at the Hotel Le Bristol found the body of Polish-born Kinga Legg, 36, in the bath tub of the £1,000-a-night room. A post mortem revealed she died of internal bleeding.

Griffin was seen driving away from the hotel in his black Porsche 911 earlier that day.

Police later recovered the luxury car near where he grew up in Warrington.

Witnesses said they saw Mr Griffin on Wednesday at Shepperton Marina in Surrey, where the couple keep a high powered speed boat.
