A LIVERPOOL church has launched a new play scheme after receiving backing from the Church Urban Fund.
Christ Church, on Sedgemoor Road, Norris Green, aims to provide 80 children, from 25 primary schools, a safe place to play in an area that has been hit hardest by the recession.
Vicar of Christ Church, Rev Helen Bennett, said: Parents are understandably concerned about letting their children play on the streets. The play scheme provides a safe environment for members of the community to build relationships with each other.
The Church Urban Fund, who helped set up the project, works in some of the poorest communities in England and is launching a new initiative to help those that have been hardest hit by the latest economic crisis.
The Seeds of Hope appeal will help fund 1,200 projects that include supporting vunerable families and children.
