Liverpool's Holly Lodge Girls School coordinates rainforest themed entry to Lord Mayor’s Pageant

CHILDREN from Liverpool have banded together to create an exotic mobile rainforest for the Lord Mayor’s Pageant thisweekend.

A group of 25 pupils from Holly Lodge Girls’ College in West Derby helped youngsters from primary schools create eye-catching displays for Saturday’s parade.

The school invited pupils from Lister Drive Primary, St Michaels Primary, St Oswald’s Primary, Roscoe Primary and Blackmore Park Junior schools.

All of them were given an insight into the plight of the globe’s jungles.

Mentor Fatima Begum, 15, from Holly Lodge said: “We’ve played a role in this project to develop awareness about the condition of our surroundings and the rainforests.”

The primary school children started off by drawing pictures that relate to the rainforest as an idea, turning them into three-dimensional Sculpture shapes which they then attached to B&Q trolleys.
