TATTOO artists from all over the world were in the city at the weekend for the second annual Liverpool Tattoo Convention.
Organisers say they wanted to showcase a lesser-known side of the city’s art scene to members of the public.
The convention, which had a pirate theme, took place over Saturday and Sunday at the University of Liverpool’s student union.
Bringing nearly 150 international tattooists together, the large-scale event was organised by Liverpool studio – Design 4 Life. Kate Sheard, body piercer and manager of the Old Swan tattoo parlour, said: “We did the first one for 2008. We wanted to instil some alternative culture in the place.”
Tattooists set up stalls at conventions mainly to promote their work and their studios.
Ms Sheard added: “There is more to Liverpool culture than what you see every day.
“You’ve got the Walker art gallery, and you’ve got this.
It’s just another way of showcasing a good art form.”
