Celebrities turn on the style for charity
Mr Gest said: “I wanted to give something back to Liverpool and what better way then by helping the children.
“Stars from all over the world have helped support and participate in the ball and raised a lot of money for children. I feel like an honorary Scouser because the people there have really taken me to their hearts.
“I have a lot of love for the people of Liverpool.”
Items in the auction included a John Lennon Imagine gold record award, LFC and EFC memorabilia, a LA holiday for four including tickets to Universal Studios, a first class trip to Memphis.
One lucky auction winner also got the chance to receive a birthday call from soul singer Smokey Robinson.
Liverpool Unites fundraiser Katie Mercer said: “We were absolutely delighted when David Gest told us he was donating the profits on the night to be split with Liverpool Unites and the Variety Club.
“The fantastic auction prizes and top class entertainment made it a very memorable evening.”
An after party was held at the Albert Dock’s Circo bar and restaurant.
