Despite the conviction, the GMC gave him permission to remain on its register, so long as he was supervised and did not treat under-16s.
Countess medical director Dr Virginia Clough said: “We were aware of this doctor’s restrictions to practise imposed by the GMC and the history behind them when he came to work at the Countess.
“We are pleased in December last year, the GMC decided to allow the doctor to return to unrestricted practice.
“The speciality this doctor works in, pathology, does not involve direct contact with patients and he has been under close supervision.”
