THE United Kingdom Independence Party is set to open an office in Bootle after its chairman, who hails from the town, was elected to the European Parliament last week.
Paul Nuttall, 32, will be one of the youngest ever Euro- MPs when he takes his seat in Brussels.
The party came third in the European elections, but only managed to secure one of the eight seats available.
Under the proportional representation system used, seats are allocated depending on the number of votes each party receives.
UKIP was only 1,224 votes away from securing a second seat which would have stopped the BNP from snatching the last seat available.
Mr Nuttall said: “I’m really proud to have been elected and I will continue UKIP’s work of exposing the European Union.
“I intend to be high profile and make hardline speeches.”
He lives in Liverpool’s Hatton Garden with his wife, Linda, a PR expert in Manchester.
