Last year, the 100 candidates were recruited into jobs in less than 100 days.
It is hoped this year’s batch will be in employment by September.
All apprentices will be paid £4.77 an hour – the national minimum wage for 18 to 21-year-olds – regardless of their age.
They will also be offered NVQ training to level 3 and a personal mentor offering support.
It is hoped many of the businesses will offer their apprentices permanent work.
Knowsley council’s own 18 apprenticeships offer two years of work across areas including housing benefit and horticulture.
