Liverpool man takes bosses to court because they won’t make him redundant

A WORKER is taking his bosses to court – because they refused to make him redundant.

Rodney Wynne is defying the economic trend to take Bootle-based Barry’s Skip Hire to a tribunal because he kept his job.

He said the firm was ageist because it did not offer him voluntary redundancy.

Mr Wynne, 65, was an HGV driver at the firm for nearly 20 years and hoped for a £14,000 payout.

The OAP claimed he was on sick leave when he heard letters were being sent to other workers offering voluntary redundancy.

But he said when he made his offer known it was refused – and the firm chose to issue compulsory redun-dancy notices to two other workers instead.

He believes the firm got rid of the other workers because their payouts would be smaller than his. Mr Wynne will represent himself at next month’s tribunal.
