Status Quo to headline the final Aintree Racecourse meeting

THE stage rig for one of the world’s most successful rock acts was taking shape at Aintree Racecourse yesterday.

A bumper crowd is expected for the final summer race meeting tonight, which will feature six races and will be followed by a headline 90-minute set by the legendary rock group Status Quo.

It is the Quo’s only visit to Liverpool this year and marketing manager Emma Owen said: “We are pleased with ticket and hospitality sales so far, in what is a challenging year for racing.

“The offering of racing at the UK’s most famous course, rounded off by one of the country’s most famous rock bands, makes a unique evening, which we are very excited about.

“It is a great way to conclude our final meeting of the summer jumps season.”

The first of six races starts at 6.05pm and the band will perform their greatest hits in the Red Rum Garden.

General admission tickets start at £24.
